Panmure & Carnoustie

The amateur championship, held at Panmure and Carnoustie Golf Clubs, final came down to Scotland's Grant Forrest and Romain Langasque from France who took an early lead going one up after three holes. Birdies at the 8th and 9th secured an excellent start along with the astounding 30ft putt for a birdie at the 10th. Grant's bogie on the 11th pushed him further behind but his eagle on the 12th along with a birdie on the 21st helped bring the deficit down to only 5 and, with much excitement on the 30th he sunk his 2nd eagle of the day.

But after three consecutive pars Langasque sealed the match on the 34th hole to become the 2015 Amateur Champion. He became the third Frenchman to lift the trophie, securing a place in the 144th Open Championship at St Andrews in July, a place in the 2016 US Open as well as an invite to the Masters. Not a bad day at the office.
