37th Walker Cup 11-12 September 1999
On the 11th and 12th of September 1999 Nairn Golf Club hosted one of the oldest and most historic events in amateur golf – The Walker Cup. This exciting golf match brought together the ten best amateur golfers from Great Britain and Ireland and the ten best amateur golfers from the United States. The match is held every two years and alternates between Great Britain and Ireland and the U.S.A.
The Nairn Golf Club links bore witness to the biggest points victory for Great Britain and Ireland in the history of the Walker Cup. The final score was 15-9. The winning Captain, Mr Peter McEvoy, upon accepting the trophy praised the course. "I hope the reputation of Nairn will grow and it will join the very best clubs in its recognition."
